2017 Open Registration!
Hey all,
Yet another season of the CrossFit Games series is almost upon us! As in the prior 7 years, there are three stages in the CrossFit Games season - the Open, the Regionals, and then the Games themselves.
The Open is a worldwide competition that will likely involve over 300,000 people this year. It consists of 5 weeks of workouts that have to be judged and validated at a registered affiliate (like ours!) or submitted via video. It is quite a movement to be involved in - there is something about testing yourself against that many people to really see where you stand!
The Open is meant to be inclusive and to that end, there will be Rx and Scaled divisions. We will also be running the wods as our regular class workouts on Fridays and Saturdays, so there's really no reason not to compete!
This year's Open begins February 23rd, but registration starts this Thursday January 12th! We had outstanding participation last year, much better than many gyms that are larger than us. We also had amazing performances across the board, including at the highest level of competition.

I hope you'll join me in signing up this year and challenging yourself. It might seem scary or intimidating but really if it wasn't, then it likely wouldn't be worth doing. You'll be amazed at how you can push yourself when it really counts.
See you on the leaderboard :)

Training Wednesday - Thursday
Warm-up: 3 rounds - 6 KB press per arm, 8 goblet squats, 10 double crunch
Skill: Rowing tech review
WOD: Misery loves company :)
This is a partner workout, in which we blend two tough elements - rowing, burpees, and box jumps. Unlike many of our workouts, this one gets tougher as you go in that you have to complete more work. It is an amrap format, so stay tough and push through! One partner completes a full round of work, then the other partner repeats that same rep number.
Rx: 30 minute amrap in partners of: 3 calories row, 3 over rower burpees, 3 box jumps. Then 6 calorie row, 6 over rower burpees, 6 box jumps. Then 9 calorie row, and 9 over rower burpees, 9 box jumps... and so on until the 30 min is up.
TG: 20 min, regular burpees
FG: step over burpees, scale box jump height
