Natasha - Member Highlight!

Natasha has been with us for nearly two years now, and since the beginning she has fit right in with our community. Getting to know people right away, making friends, and embracing what CrossFit is all about. She even jumped into a partner comp for our November Reign competition only a couple months after starting! She is always working on new skills and trying to increase her capacity in all movements. She joined our Level UP program, and she’s really put in the extra work, and has been so patient along the way in trusting the process. I don’t get to coach her as often as I’d like, but every time I do, I’m amazed at the improvements she's made in such a short time period, from double-unders, to HSPU, to now TTB! She always takes good coaching cues and is so fun to have in class. Read below to get to know her!

What is your background in Fitness/sport?

I grew up dabbling in various school sports and swimming competitively and then worked in aquatics for many years. As an adult, I started running after having kids and dabbled in triathlons, completing my first (and last!) 70.3 Ironman before throwing in the towel and immediately joining Crossfit VicCity.

When did you start CrossFit and at Vic City?

My first class was here at Vic City in September 2022.

How many CrossFit Opens have you done?

Two.

Favourite memories in the gym?

Every morning is the best with the 6am crowd. Surprising Connor with a class full of shirts with his face on them for his birthday is definitely up there, too!

What is your favourite movement?

Power Cleans, walking lunges and HSPUs.

Least favourite?

Thrusters paired with running immediately afterwards… or snatches.

Favourite WOD or type?

For time, descending rep schemes or Halestorm was a good one!

What do you enjoy the most about CrossFit?

I tell people it’s being able to show up and not have to think about programming and the routine of going to the gym. But really, it’s the community. Getting to start the day hanging out with some badass & encouraging people who are all trying to keep themselves mentally and physically healthy is what keeps me coming back day after day.

Most recent achievement that you are proud of?

Doing my first Murph ever, Rx, and surviving... and after six months of weekly practice, I finally did two sets of 6 TTB! Two months ago I could barely do three (really ugly ones).

What goals are you working towards right now?

Improving my gymnastics skills … increasing volume of TTB enough to string them during a WOD, unbanded chest-to-bar pull ups, handstand walking, & ring dips to name a few.

What is your go to treat / meal?

Eating an entire bag of Covered Bridge salt and vinegar chips myself…

Thank you Natasha for being a stand out member in our community! For being a great example for those around you and a role model for your family. You always cheer on your fellow classmates and are always missed when not in your morning classes. We’re excited to see you continue to crush your goals and to keep raising the bar higher for yourself. We’re also very excited to see you take on Garden City Games individually and FVT on a team! Exciting things to come this year, and we’re here to cheer you on along the way! :)

Be sure to give Natasha a high five next time you see her in class!
